Your pot-grown Osmanthus plants
These are individual Osmanthus × burkwoodii hedge plants, not a mixed pack or a ready-formed length of hedge. Choose the starting height that suits your planting plan. The listed height is the supplied grade, not the eventual height of the shrub.
Planning your quantity
For our listed grades in a single row, use the following planting recommendations:
- 40–60cm: four plants per metre, spaced 25cm apart.
- 60–80cm or 80–100cm: three plants per metre, spaced about 33cm apart.
Measure spacing from the centre of one plant to the next. For a 10m hedge, allow 40 of the smaller plants or 30 of either taller grade. For other lengths, multiply the length in metres by the recommended plants per metre and round up to a whole plant.
Checking your order
Check the selected height and number of plants before adding them to your wheelbarrow. Use the current price shown for that option to compare the cost of the full hedge. Delivery arrangements can differ by plant size, so check the delivery information for your chosen grade and destination.
Still deciding which starting size suits the job? Our Osmanthus hedging size and spacing comparison explains the options. Taller plants give you more height at planting, but separate plants still need time to join into a continuous hedge.
Buying help
Ordering your Osmanthus plants
Are the different heights different Osmanthus varieties?+
No. All three height grades are Osmanthus × burkwoodii. The choice changes the starting size of the plants you receive, not the species or flower colour.
Does quantity mean individual plants or metres of hedge?+
The options currently listed are single plants. A quantity of 10 means 10 plants, not a 10m hedge. Use the plants-per-metre recommendations above to work out the number needed for your hedge length.
Do I need to plant them immediately after delivery?+
Plant them as soon as practical. During a short delay, keep the pots watered and do not allow the root balls to dry out. Wait rather than planting into frozen or waterlogged ground. Our Osmanthus care guide covers planting and establishment.
Is delivery the same for every plant size?+
Check the selected option before ordering. Different plant sizes can use different delivery services and qualifying order values. See our delivery information and check the basket or checkout for your order and postcode.
