Portuguese Laurel Trees, also known as Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia' are mainly used as a evergreen hedging species, however it can be trained into a tree that is excellent for small to medium gardens. Because of its dense habit, Prunus lusitanica makes the ideal choice for a privacy screen or sound barrier. Fragrant white candle flowers appear in early summer followed by dark red cherry shaped fruit ripening to black. Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia will stay quite compact and stem height will not change significantly but the head will grow larger in all directions. The tree can be pruned to the shape or height as desired.
