Horse Safe Hedging is perfect for planting as a border around paddocks with livestock in. We have used animal friendly hedging to ensure the safety of livestock, including horses and donkeys, that may come into contact with the hedge. Now available to buy in easy 1 metre packs or discount packs. Each metre pack contains 5 plants. Simply plant 2 staggered rows mixing the plants to make a wonderful hedge. Each row should be 30cm apart and each plant 40cm apart in each row. Once planted it is recommended to keep the livestock a minimum of 2 metres from the new hedge until its established.
Horse Safe Hedging consists of:
Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna)
Hazel (Corylus avellana)
Mixed Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea, Cornus alba 'Sibirica' and Cornus stolonifera 'Flavirame')
Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus)
The amount of each plant will vary depending on stock levels.
Growth rate: Medium 20-40cm per year
Overall height: Medium up to 5 metres
Position: Coastal, Sheltered, Full Sun, Full Shade, Exposed
