Hornbeam Hedge - Carpinus betulus

Hornbeam hedging is a hardy native plant similar to Green Beech hedging. It tolerates poor soils and exposed sites better than Beech. A semi evergreen (holds its brown leaves through winter), with green catkins in late spring through to autumn. Hornbeam is also excellent for pleaching.  It is probably the best subject for clipping into a formal hedge.

Supplied in 100cm wide planter bags as mature clipped instant hedging.
